Web Hosting Server Down! Down! Down

Do you facing problem access to AhTim dot com? My blog hosting server was having intermittent problem last 3 days! It was really hard time for me. Can’t do anything, have to wait for technical support team.
I have upgraded my web hosting plan last month. It was running fine until few days back. From past 3 days, I noticed my blog down at least 1 hour each day. Just like the post title, the server down! down! down! At least 3 times exclude the time that I not online. So, the actual down time might be more!
The Hard Time
When the web server error happen, it shows “HTTP 500 Internal Server error” or “401 File Not Found, file handler error”. As I know, the web hosting server should restart by itself if anything wrong. But in my case, it just drag for unknown reason up to 1 hour. Sometime even longer.
How can these service provider setup this kind of lousy server for customer? I don’t think any customer can stay with it if they have huge traffics. I talk to the agent and he check for me. For first 2 days, he can’t do anything but suggest to migrate my blog host to another server. I agreed with him to schedule a down time. On 3rd day when it happen again, I have no choice to complaint the agent again. Without anymore delay, the support team migrate my hosting to another so call “more stable” server immediately. Fortunately, I got my blog up back on that day itself after few hours. Really thanks to their fast respond!
The Effect
You might ask me what the effect of server down. Well, I’m not like those famous blogs have such huge traffics. But at least I have average of thousand plus visitors daily. I can see my RSS subscribers, visitors, and Google Adsense droped on these days 
So, what more important is it is up and running fine now! Let’s see if this server perform better and more stable. I don’t think blogger need a super fast processor and huge RAM capacity server. What I need is just a normal stable server with high speed bandwidth. Hope this US machine can last longer…
The moral of the story is check out your service provider’s reputation before jump into it

ah tim, what webhosting did you go with? i’m thinking of moving my blog onto a self-hosted platform and would like to know what other considerations you had before selecting your hosting co.

@howshouse: I’m using shared hosting. Do you mean you want something like VPS?
