Type of Web Hosting

Recently there are a few online friends asked me about web hosting. I noticed many bloggers does not aware types of web hosting. It may due to web hosting is always hidden to us, I think.

Web hosting tutorials did provide comprehensive info about types of web hosting. I’ll try to explain them in easiest to understand word. There are basically 2 types of web hosting.

Type of Web hosting

1. Shared Hosting - Explained by its name. It is hosting plan that share among others. It is cheapest hosting plan and suitable for entry to mid level traffic Website or blog. Same as you rent a room in a 3-rooms house. For Shared Hosting, you will share CPU resources, RAM, diskspace and bandwidth with others.

2. Dedicated Hosting - A web hosting plan that own the whole server and bandwidth. Of course a dedicated server is more expensive, yet it gives you much greater control and capability. It is suitable for high-traffic site or those that need performance of dedicated server. You need more technical skills to administrate dedicated hosting.

Managed Hosting - In simple words, its similar to dedicated hosting that outsourcing the technical part to a more skilled team. Means you employ people to maintain the server for you.
VPS Hosting - According to Wikipedia, VPS is a method of partitioning a physical server computer into multiple servers. Hence its consider as shared “dedicated server”.
