Still remember the solar powered green web hosting? Many giant technology companies start to build their so called Green Data Center. With these green data center, they expect to save energy as well as reduce polution to the earth.

Who are they? How they manage to save energy and reduce polution? If you are the green architect designer, what idea you have?

The Green Data Centers

  1. The computer software giant, Microsoft has building its green data center last year. Microsoft plans to use recycled water as its cooling systems in San Antonio data center. The data center consist 500,000 square feet and contain tens of thousands of servers. At Quincy data center, electricity was generated by hydroelectric plants. In addition, Microsoft also interested in electricity generated by wind near Texas.
  2. The Internet giant, Google has patented its Water Based Data Center. Google may build it on a ship. The wave energy converter can produce power from sea water while at the same time using water as a method for cooling. 2 in 1 power source saving, clever huh? (more…)
