Comments in a post can tell you know the post popularity and how
active is your readers. Recently, I have posted an article about design your own logo on
LiewCF.com and it brought about 10 comments within hours. This means
LiewCF really made well relation with his readers, also the readers
are active in this blogsphere.

How to get more comments?

There are 7 ways I would like to share with you:

1. Ask for their opinion
When you post an article, do not close the article with only your own conclusion. Give some space for your reader to post their comment. As for me, I always use the question like ” How about you? What is your opinion? What do you think?”. These question really make your readers start to think rather than feed them, and they might reply their opinion to you by comment in your post.

2. Put in interesting topic
Put in some content that can use for discussion, which do not have absolute answer. For example, my previous post about HD DVD vs Blu-ray , this is an interesting topic for discussion that do not have an absolute answer at this moment. It is more to readers’ need and usage. There are more interesting topics that you can write about, for example: digital or analogue, comparison between softwares and etc.

3. Respond to their comment
Once your readers comment in your post, you must respond to their comment in positive way. This way make your readers like to comment their opinion, their question and definitely build a relation between readers and author. When your post are lively, more people will start to comment.

4. Reward them
Some blog did launch for contest for their top commentators. Frankly speaking I myself did launched a contest after my 1st month blogging. There are more ways to reward them , such as install a top commentators widget on your blog’s sidebar like mine. What is happening on AhTim.com ?

Time flies, it is already 4 months of blogging life in this blogsphere. If you followed my blog post, it was 2 months ago since my last SEO report on November 2007. Why I never update my SEO report on last month? This is because I am too busy with upgrade my wordpress theme and wordpress version.

Also there are too many holidays on last month, including my Shanghai vacation trip that took me about 1 week off. Not only that, since I won an iPod Touch on last month, I have spend more time on this new gadget - iPod Touch 16GB rather than blogging.

After all, now I am waking up myself and start to blog again here So how is my SEO result after 2 months efforts ?

My Monthly SEO report

1. Alexa

If you still remember, my alexa ranking on November SEO report was 342,972 and now cllimbed up to 224,090. It was 34.66% improvement on Alexa ranking this month Although this is not a very huge jump compare to previous months report, I’m still quite satisfied with the progress. I found that when our ranking get higher, the harder we could move in.

According to my previous target, I want to achieve at least 200,000 in Alexa ranking. But seems like still a gap in between my target and achievement. I will try harder to achive the target in my next SEO report! Hopefully by carry out a 20 days post challenge could help me on this, its time to do preparation.

2. Google Webmaster

This is my latest top search queries result that extracted from Google Webmaster. 8 Out of these top 10 results are related to iPod touch. 1 keyword related to linux and 1 keyword related to yahoo. I noticed that since I post iPod Touch articles, there are not much people comment on my blog, maybe this gadget still not famous in Malaysia? Anyway, iPod Touch articles did bring me more raw traffics from search engine! (more…)

Recently Mr JohnChow has post an article on how to get a free ad on his blog. This is really an interesting article for all of us, including me as a beginner blogger.

So, How to advertise for Free ?

As you know, I like Free things. No exceptional for my blog’s advertisement at my current practice. The EntreCard is the solution for all of us! EntreCard is using the concept of exchanging business card on the Internet. In this case, the business cards are 125×125 buttons.

Actually, this is not only for small blogger like me, but it was used by many probloggers such as Darren, JohnChow, and many more. So if you want to advertise your blog in those probloggers’ blog for Free, you better signup EntreCard now!

How to use EntreCard?

Once you signup EntreCard, you need to install the EntreCard widget on your blog. Why must install EntreCard widget? The widget allows other Entrecard users to drop their card and you get one credit for every card dropped. To earn more credits, you need to drop your card to other blog that using EnterCard widget. When other bloggers buying an Entrecard advertising spot from you, you also got credit.

The EntreCard control panel may looks a bit complicated, but it is quite easy to use after you get use to it. Basically, the EntreCard control panel divide into 2 parts. On your left hand, it is your EntreCard information and statistics. Where by on your right hand side, it shows 4 column: Advertisers, Your Ads, On your widget and Inbox.

In “Advertisers” column, you will need to aprrove those advertisers that allow to put ads in your EntreCard widget. After your approval, it goes to “On your widget“. All advertisements queue in sequence and wait for their ads to show on your blog. After you earn some credits, search for publishers in Campaign and click on the “Advertise” button under the blog that you affort to pay. “Inbox” column contain all cards that others dropped to you.

If you are a serious blogger, I am sure you are very keen to write post that available for people to search in all major search engine such as Google. Now the question comes in, do you know what keyword is people using to search in major search engine ?

If you know the keyword that using by most of the internet surfers in search engine, and you put it in your post, then your post has higher possibilities to be reach by people.

How to choose The Hot Keyword ?

This is a very interesting techniques that use by most professional blogger, but Mr John Chow did mentioned

Too many bloggers get too caught up with stuff like key phrases, keyword density, making sure your content is Google friendly, etc. The only thing I have to say about that is; write for people, not for Google.

So, as my conclusion, we can tackle the hot keyword to increase your blog to higher rank and traffic, but NOT “too caught up” with every word ! Remember, people is your blog’s reader, not Google.
