Don’t Spam your Twitter !
Thursday, November 29th, 2007Watch out! Don’t get banned.
Today when I reading blog post on Chris Garrett’s blog, noticed that he blog about one of the twitterer that he is following was banned by Twitter! I am not sure whether you heard about this incident happen around your friend?
There are several reason from support there about why this happen:
1. You’ve followed a large number of people in a short amount of time
2. Only a small number of followers compared to number of people you’re following
3. The updates consist mainly of links and not personal updates
4. Large number of users blocking the profile and writing in with spam complaints
After read through the reason, I random browse through the twitter profile at people that I am following. I found that almost 50% of the people is doing what I’ve mentioned above!
Are you Spamming twitter?
We can understand that this definitely happen to those new twitterer like me. After I registered my twitter account, I start following those techie guys to know what they are doing all the time. As a new user, I don’t expect many followers, and for sure the difference between my “followers” (9 person) and “following“(38 person) is quite huge. Sometime, we want to announce our new blog post to our followers by using links rather than personal updates. The only reason why I still alive in twitter is because I never get blame or complaint from my twitter neighbor.
Don’t Spam your Twitter!
After read the possible reason to get banned from Twitter, I’ve decided to disfollow those inactive twitter members at AhTim twitter’s friends page. I expect active twitterer to post at least 1 message in a week including their personal updates. Hance, now I am following 6 people with 9 followers.
Hopefully you too review your twitter profile and don’t get banned from Twitter after you’ve put a lot of effort in!
