ASUS EcoBook Bamboo Laptop

Monday, March 10th, 2008

While everybody is talking about environmental friendly products to save our world, ASUS is already launched its model called EcoBook. As you can see from the photo, the panel casing and laptop body covered by bamboo wood rather than platics or metal. That’s the reason why they call it Bamboo Laptop.

According to some comment, bamboo can grow 1 foot length each day. Is it true? I am not sure. But one thing I can sure is, now our bamboo become lesser with this model. So, is this laptop really environmentally friendly? I doubt! :)

Anyway, if we compared between bamboo wood and plastic cover, of course bamboo wood is better in the sense of it is biodegradable. Plastic is non-biodegradable, so its polution effect to our mother earth is longer in time. On the other point of view, the ecobook manufacturer need more bamboo to build these laptop.

In my opinion, the manufacturer should come out some bamboo plantation or recycle plan before its too late. People buy ASUS ecobook not only it was claimed as eco friendly, but also its comfortable touch and design. It is more natural, pure and fresh feeling while using computer.

Have you seen anyone use ASUS EcoBook? I might buy one in future. :)
