I admire those who snap really really nice life, human character and scenery photo. You may find these kind of high quality and pro photos in Flickr.

So, the question is how to snap a nice photo using your digital camera? Well, the camera itself might make the difference but the techniques are the same. It is the best if you have a DSLR to make good shoot. If you don’t have one, you also can snap nice photo by using these techniques. Unfortunately, myself also don’t have one DSLR. Hopefully I could get a Nikon DSLR one day!

4 Techniques to Snap Nice Photo

There are 4 simple steps for beginner to learn. You may need to try an error with your digital camera following these rules. Heard practice make perfect? Yes, practice more to know your camera.

1. A Concrete Theme

Do not simply snap when you see a beautiful scenery. Think a concrete theme before press the shutter. Ask yourself, does the image display on the screen explain the theme? Can viewer feel your theme by looking at the photo? Sometime we just too excited to capture the whole mountain into one photo. But a branch of tree describe more of your theme in most case.

2. Landscape or Portrait?

This is quite subjective. Some people used to landscape when come to scenery shoot. Try out the portrait shoot might give you surprise. Especially when scenery contain of trees, waterfall and mountain.

Personally, I don’t too rely on traditional vertical angle. I like to try snap photo in different angle. Be bold in blazing new trails and snap what people never capture!

3. Morning, Afternoon or Evening?

Many people thought the best time to snap outdoor scenery is under hot sunlight in the afternoon. In fact, this view is wrong. No doubt is good to have clear sunlight. But the strong sun glare might wash out the original object colour. By contrast, sunlight in the morning and evening will be more gentle, shadows may have a dramatic effect, even if you only use the entry level digital camera.

4. Near to the Object

Not all camera have wide-angle lens and high optical zoom features. Of course wide-angle lens capture wider view and high optical zoom could reach the object easier.

By implement the first rule to give a concrete theme, we actually do not always need need them. Snap near to the object should highlight your theme better!

My two cents

Other than tech, photography is my second choice of interest although I do not have any experience on it. I’m still on the learning path. Hope you could provide me more advice if you have knowledge on it. ;)
