How to Become a ProBlogger?
Posted in Blog Tips | By AhTim @ March 15th, 2008
Many bloggers claim that they are problogger. I am curious on what problogger means? I search for the word “problogger” in wikipedia but have no answer. Does it mean someone earn a lot of money and traffics from web log? Or someone have a lot of RSS readers?
I don’t think so. Why? Let’s analyze this question from the aspects below:
Money
This might be the most concerning part by most bloggers. Many bloggers thought that more money they earn from blog, more professions they have in blogging. That’s the reason why many bloggers use this aspect to compare or criticize one another by using their monthly earnings.
But, let’s think. Does it mean that bloggers that does not earn money is not, or cannot be a professional blogger? How about bloggers that blog with their profession in certain niche without putting ads? Can we call them ProBloggers? Sure! Spammers might earn a lot of money from their websites, but does it mean they are professional blogger? No! Hence money is not a factor to become ProBlogger.
Traffics
Certainly, traffics is a factor. But it should not the only criteria. For example, a car technician might blog about car technical knowledge. His blog traffics inferior to everybody here and none of us have interest to read his blog. Does it means he is not a professional blogger? No. Who knows his blog has high authority in the niche of car maintenance?
RSS Subscribers
Same thing above applied in this aspect. If someone does not have RSS subscribers, does it means they are not professional blogger? Definitely RSS subscriber quantity should not be a qualification to determine a professional blogger.
Definition of ProBlogger
So what is the definition of ProBlogger? In my opinion, there are 2 main factors to determine a professional blogger:
1. Establish Authority in Your Niche - Contribute contents with your profession to establish your authority in the blogsphere. When readers in your niche trust on you, you got the authority.
2. Make Readers Respect You - Respect others before make readers respect you. You want men to do to you, you also must likewise do to them. Always use polite words and positive attitude in your post.
As a conclusion, everybody can become a problogger as long as they responsible to the content, only post true story with sincere. When readers respect your authority in your niche, then you are a ProBlogger!
I never call myself a professional blogger, unless others call me. How about you? Do you call yourself a ProBlogger? ![]()

And now most of blogger write posts for the purpose of make money. Mee too. Write blog is favourite and also make money. But I still remain the root of blogger, sharing the thinking and point of view.
