Holiday in Kuala Terengganu
Posted in Travel | By AhTim @ September 2nd, 2008
It has been 2 years since our last visit to Kuala Terengganu, my wife’s home town. I’m sure most of you know where Pulau Redang is, but seldom visit Kuala Terengganu. Kuala Terengganu is capital of Terengganu state (Kuala Terengganu map).
There are quite a lot of new development within these 2 years. Any place of interest here? Yes, I’m going to introduce you some of the places.
Crystal Mosque

I haven’t been there but saw it far from Sultan Mahmud bridge this morning. From what I saw, Crystal Mosque is a mosque that build with glasses instead of concrete. Heard the building cost is higher than Olympic Bird Nest Stadium! Is it true? I don’t know. Some say it is the most beautiful mosque in Malaysia. What do you think?
SUKMA Stadium

The SUKMA XII, which is being held in Sultan Mizan Stadium (Terengganu) this year, from 29 May to 9 June 2008. The main stadium has capacity of 49,000 and the indoor stadium (10,000 capacity). Quite big huh? At least biggest than the stadium in my home town.
Airport

The Kuala Terengganu New Airport is now under construction stage. The project is more than 3 years and expect to be completed this year end - December 2008. This is good development to enhance the main problem here - transportation. Because it is so far from Malaysia capital , Kuala Lumpur.
I believe with the airport expansion, there must be more flights and bigger terminal available here.
Biggest Museum

The biggest museum I’ve visited. I’m you don’t know it is the biggest museum in Malaysia. I visited the museum few years ago. Ticket fees is cheap at RM5 per person.
If not mistaken, there are 3 main blocks joined together: a Main Museum, a Maritime Museum, and a Fisheries Museum. Other than that, there are spacious of outdoor galleries and traditional Malay house for visit too.
My two cents
I’m enjoying my one week holiday here, after 8 hours of driving distance. Better air quality, better sleep. Also, I’ll try to enjoy the life of a Blogger. What is a life of Blogger? Eat, Blog, Eat, Sleep. Haha..
Do you impressed by the developments in Kuala Terengganu shown above?
