I’ve missed the Beijing 2008 Olympics opening ceremony. Heard everybody said it was a surprising and best Olympics opening ceremony ever. China has made the game started successfully, with lots of high tech system.

Let’s see how they integrate high technologies to success the 2008 Olympics.

Bird Nest Stadium

The so called 4th Generation Stadium “Bird Nest” build with steel in web form. No pillar can found in the stadium. All audiences (can fit max 100k audiences) can watch event clearly without any blockage.

The center point the the stadium is just about 140 meter far away, no matter which corner you seat. Everybody can watch the event fairly.

Water Cube

The National Swimming Centre for 2008 Olympics has been covered with high tech ETFE film. Its like skin protecting the building indoor. As you can see from the photo below, the whole swimming centre was covered.

The transparency of ETFE allow sunlight to light up indoor swimming pool in day time. Indirect sunlight make indoor temperature well control, not too hot. This should save lots of electricity. Another function of ETFE is it able to “wash” itself with small amount of rain water.

Weather Forecast Satellite

To provide more accurate weather forecast, China has launched a satellite few months ago in May 2008. This satellite has mission to provide accurate weather up to minute every 3 hours, through out whole Olympics in Beijing. If needed, Olympics Weather Proof department is able to dismiss rain cloud by its rocket! Cool.

HD Broadcast Truck

This heavy 28 Tons giant truck, sky high cost 50 Million RMB is the first HD broadcast truck in Asia. This broadcast truck is going to broadcast Football match in Olympics. The truck equiped with 30 high resolution LCDs. It broadcast up to HD resolution (1080×1920) instead of traditional 576×760. It is widescreen (16:9) too, same with my LG 19″ Flatron Wide!

So, get ready to watch the Football matches in your HDTV. Thanks to HD Broadcast Truck to make the event more exciting!

Lithium Battery Bus

50 pure Lithium Battery Bus is serving athletes in Olympics Village. It is environmentally friendly to avoid air polution. There are more than 320 pure electric car served in between stadiums. It is first time to see such a huge amount of environmental friendly vehicles serving in Olympics.
