Gmail gets emoticons, canned responses

Have you customize your MSN messenger emoticons? Emoticons is not only in MSN, it is now available in Gmail too. Gmail now gets emoticons and auto replies.

I check back Gmail feature improvement from the pass (Gmail weird feature, Free IMAP support) , it has made email more fun and useful over time.

Gmail Emoticons

Free emoticons have been available on Google Chat for quite some time, now its first time in Gmail. You should an emoticons icon in Compose page. Lots of emoticons to choose. Basically 2 types: Square emoticons and Round emoticons. Personally I think round emoticons nicer. About 80 emoticons for each type.

So we have no more text emotion code needed. Email have become so fun like chatting.

Canned Responses

Canned responses is very useful when come to keep common reply email. For example your customer might ask mostly same questions if you selling some software, the price, duration, location, etc. You can save the answer in “canned responses” and replied their question with just a “Single” click.

As for myself, I save my “Received Ads Payment” letter in canned responses. So that I can reply to my customers easily each month once receive their payments.

You can also set auto reply for bulk emails with canned responses. But I doubt on its efficiency. It could be dangerous to do so.

Canned responses not turn on by default. To use it, you must activate it. Login Gmail, under Settings > Labs, browse through and look for “Canned Responses” to enable it.

PS: If you do not have a Gmail account, contact me and I’ll send free gmail invitation to you while stock last.
