Get more permanent RSS readers !
Posted in Blog Tips, Increase Traffic | By AhTim @ January 31st, 2008
It is not easy to get all rss readers to follow your post daily.
Frankly speaking, I myself also not able to finish my favorites feeds.
I have subscribe to more than 110 feeds subscription, maybe can finish weekly or bi-weekly but not daily.
When a RSS reader not follow your post in 1 day, means you loss 1
reader in your feedburner rss stats. For bloggers have more than 1000 feeds, 10 readers are not making much difference. But as for beginner like me, this definitely affect my trust worthy from blog’s visitors.
How to get permanent RSS readers?
This is an interesting question. Permenant readers means they are
calculated in your rss feed stats even they do not read your post
daily. Of course, provided they are still your readers. To get
permanent RSS readers, you must know how feedburner works.
Feedburner count your feed request within 24 hours and display at your feedburner stats. There are 2 type of RSS subscription methods. First via feed reader subscription, second via rss email subscription. If a normal feed reader does not access to his feed reader, he is no longer counted even though he is still a subscriber. But if he subscribe via email, FeedBurner counts him as a RSS request even he never open his mailbox for few days. This mean this reader is counted as long as he still receiving your email feeds.
In this way, the reader become your permanent reader as long as they do not unsubscribe. So what do you think? Will you ask your readers to subscribe via email? or stick with normal feed reader?

My two cents
No matter which methods, your blog traffic won’t increase without good content. Most important point is write good contents. Your readers will become permanent readers automatically by visit your blog daily.

Apple has a very nice site name. I agree that Feedburner will count e-mail subscriber as permanent reader. But i personally think that e-mail subscriber won’t really go through every posts. So how about your opinion?
