Posted in Blog Tips, How To | By AhTim @ February 17th, 2008
Today when I read through my daily feed, found an interesting post by Hongkiat. Thanks him for posted a list of free yet beautiful RSS feeds icons. After browse through the free icons, I decided to customized one of the static RSS icon to animated icon.
From dozens of free RSS icons, I have choosen the icon named “MyCircles” as my new RSS feeds icon. I download the original PNG image file then custommized it to animated version.
How to Customize RSS Feeds Icons?
I used Paint.Net, a free yet professional image editing tool to generate the raw images for animation one by one. At first, I copy and paste 3 same image file with same size. Secondly, I remove off the signal bars from the icons. One with no signal bar (as base image), another one with a signal bar. So my animated RSS feed icon was build using these 3 images below.

After save these 3 images into PNG image files, now is time to make it animated. I used Picasion as my free animation GIF generator online tool. Goto Picasion home page, browse and select to upload the 3 images. Select appropiate size and speed to suit your style. Click on “create animation” and the animated GIF image will be generate on the go!

You may download the GIF image into computer for your own use. If not you can link to the GIF url provided by Picasion to save some disk space and hassle.
Now, you can use this animated RSS icons for your website for Free! Right click on the icon and save it for your own use. And do not forget to link back this post to show your appreciation to me!

I was expecting the filesize to be bigger than 11k. It’s important to keep filesize down for fast load times and usually animated graphics don’t help but these are well done.
Nice work.
