Fastest Intel CPU Overclock
We all know the latest CPU for desktop user is Intel Core2 Quad processor (what is Core2?). I don’t think much people have this CPU at home due to its price. It really not cheap at all. An Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550 Processor (2.83Ghz) cost USD$570!
The Tom’s Hardware team succeed to set a new world record for CPU overclocking by using Intel Core2 Quad Q6600 2.4Ghz. At the end of the lab, they have made the new record at 5.1Ghz for Quad processors!! Fantastic.
CPU Overclocking Trick
Normally we overclock CPU speed up to 120% of its original speed. The higher you go, system more unstable. For example, I’ve overclocked my AMD processor to 2.2Ghz from its original 1.8Ghz. My processor passed CPU torture (stress) test with Prime. But Tom’s hardware has double up the speed from 2.4Ghz to 5.1Ghz.
How they managed to do that? Well, this is not a normal overclocking method. They built a cylinder as liquid nitrogen cooling system. To overclock at such high frequency, it should input with high voltage, frequency and multiplier. Hence a normal Typhoon CPU fan or water cooling system is useless in this case. To make the CPU stable, they use liquid nitrogen to stabilize the temperature at around -125°C!
Pour liquid nitrogen into cooling cylinder.

Validated result at CPU-Z.

that’s great. I am still in the hangover of overclocking my AMD X2 that fianally crashed!
Good luck!
