Debug 404 file not found !

As a blogger, we tried very hard and spend most of the time to write valuable content as well as increase traffic techniques. But what about if your readers cannot find the content that you have written? Yes, this could happen when your blog has been crawl with older permalinks format that I mentioned in previous post about change your Permalinks format.

In order to safeguard your readers from leaving, you have to debug “404 file not found” error on your blog. But the question is how you know your blog has “404 file not found” error?
How ro detect “404 file not found” error?
To detect the error, you need 404 Notifier plugin. When 404 error occurs on your blog, it trigger your email automatically with the broken urls and traffic source. With these information, it help you to catch and debug errors.
404 Notifier installation Guide:
1. Download the 404 Notifier plugin
2. Upload the 404-notifier.php file to your wp-content/plugins directory (not in subfolder).
3. Activate 404 notifier plugin in your Plugin control panel
4. Configure your 404 Notifier message viz email or RSS feed in Options -> 404 Notifier.
My two cents
I’ve installed and configured 404 notifier on my blog. I choose email as my 404 error notification delivery method. Once I configure finished, my email start receiving the error notification and it helps me to resolve some of the errors. Why don’t you install and configure now?
