Although we are in 3G world, I don’t really see many people fully utilise it. It is sad to say that tech is changing too fast than human can follow. Most of the friends I know still using old age text SMS. Are you one of them?

I believe some of you might say it is so cheap to text SMS-ing. Some Telco charge $0.01 for a message within friend and family list. I know it does not mean anything, but how about text SMS to overseas? Yes, this mean something to me. I still remember when I send a text SMS in Shanghai (global roaming) cost me $2 per SMS! Send 10 greetings SMS easily cost $20. I don’t think it is affordable and worth for many of us here.

Free Text SMS

I recall few years back, there is one similar free SMS service but not available anymore. Now, txtbuddies is one of the free SMS provider.

To use txtbuddies, just launch to its sign up page, take 2 minutes to register. Fill in the form accordingly, especially your mobile phone number in International format. On last step, wait for the verification code send to your mobile phone and enter into the verification field. (more…)

Thursday, June 12th, 2008

I received my new hard drive few days ago. Since my workstation is using old motherboard, I have no chance use any of the huge SATA hard drive in stock :( I decided to add in the IDE 80GB hard drive as primary and install a new OS.

Reinstall Windows XP and Software

It was years ago since my last installation on my workstation. You know a software tester like me love to install and experience any new software. Hence my workstation lag down due to full of software.

As posted this morning, I transformed my XP pro to MAC OS X Leopard theme! Cool! It’s even cooler if I could win MACBook or MacBook Air this year. It took me about 2 days to completely download and install all software I need. Now, I should create a restore point to avoid all these tedious job in future. (more…)

Grab Free Vista and Mac OS X Leopard !

Thursday, June 12th, 2008

Wow, let’s grab free Vista and Leopard X theme for your XP machine! Well, this is not the real Window Vista or Mac Leopard OS X but just a theme pack. The theme packs transform your current classic XP theme to latest Vista or Leopard X feel. Although it is just a feel (not the original OS), I still recommend it to those who do not have budget yet to buy a new Vista or Leopard X machine.

Basically, it transform 5 portion of your windows appearance: login screen, wallpaper, taskbar, icons and effects. Let’s see both theme and choose the one you like.

Vista Inspirat

It has 4 main components: Rocket Dock, Y’z Shadow, TransBar and UberIcon. As shown in snapshot below, I have added in with Yahoo widget National Geographic daily photo and weather too. :)

Vista

I am very satisfied with its Vista feel on Xp machine. Don’t know why the transbar is not working. Want to transform your XP too? Download bricopack (~27.6MB) at CrystalXP.net. There are more theme packs for free download: Crystal Clear, Longhorn Inspirat and CrystalXP. (more…)

iPod Mobile MSN Messenger Chat

Friday, May 23rd, 2008

During my college time, ICQ was the most famous messenger chat service. Over time, people are switching to MSN messenger. I think the main cause is its fun and animate features that other IM don’t have.

I have a long list of friends, family members and ex-colleagues in my MSN messenger list. We are all benefit from MSN’s mobile buddy list. I remember this idea was first implemented in ICQ years ago. The centralize buddy list on its server make our text communication with friends easier and more mobile.

Mobile MSN messenger Chat

I want MSN messenger chat in even more mobile form. I do not need a computer, but just an iPod touch. Yesterday, I found a Mobile Chat software by BigBoss.org in Installer.app list. Tap it to install then restart.

In Mobile Chat, add a new account for your messenger service (Currently have 5 service, they are: AOL, .mac, XMPP, MSN and ICQ). Put in your username and password to login. (more…)
