What is happening on AhTim.com ?

Time flies, it is already 4 months of blogging life in this blogsphere. If you followed my blog post, it was 2 months ago since my last SEO report on November 2007. Why I never update my SEO report on last month? This is because I am too busy with upgrade my wordpress theme and wordpress version.

Also there are too many holidays on last month, including my Shanghai vacation trip that took me about 1 week off. Not only that, since I won an iPod Touch on last month, I have spend more time on this new gadget - iPod Touch 16GB rather than blogging.

After all, now I am waking up myself and start to blog again here So how is my SEO result after 2 months efforts ?

My Monthly SEO report

1. Alexa

If you still remember, my alexa ranking on November SEO report was 342,972 and now cllimbed up to 224,090. It was 34.66% improvement on Alexa ranking this month Although this is not a very huge jump compare to previous months report, I’m still quite satisfied with the progress. I found that when our ranking get higher, the harder we could move in.

According to my previous target, I want to achieve at least 200,000 in Alexa ranking. But seems like still a gap in between my target and achievement. I will try harder to achive the target in my next SEO report! Hopefully by carry out a 20 days post challenge could help me on this, its time to do preparation.

2. Google Webmaster

This is my latest top search queries result that extracted from Google Webmaster. 8 Out of these top 10 results are related to iPod touch. 1 keyword related to linux and 1 keyword related to yahoo. I noticed that since I post iPod Touch articles, there are not much people comment on my blog, maybe this gadget still not famous in Malaysia? Anyway, iPod Touch articles did bring me more raw traffics from search engine! (more…)

Top 10 list for Web search terms for 2007

Do you know that few giant search engine company such as Google, Ask.com and Yahoo has released their top 10 hottest keywords 2007 that use in their search engine on last few weeks?

Here is the list of 10 hottest keywords that I’ve collected from these 3 giant search engine leaders:

From the list above, you noticed that iPhone is the hottest device for this year. Under Yahoo list, this is the top 10 most search keywords in Tech category. And for Ask.com, do you noticed that the keyword “Google” is on 3rd place? The question is why people search for the word “Google” in Ask.com? This is an interesting thing for us to find out

What is Permalinks?

Permalinks is url that you use to publish your blog’s post. For example, the default wordpress permalinks is http://<domainname>/?p=<number>. To make your blog post SEO friendly, you must change the permalinks format in order to let search engine crawl your url as well as for your reader to access your blog’s entry in better sense.

How to change Permalinks format?

Many blogger thought that change the permalinks format in permalinks option will do. Yes, if you are a beginner blogger. And No, if you are not a beginner blogger!

If you have blog for months or years by using the old permalinks format, all your old inter links will be stay as it is. With your new permalinks format, your readers might not be able to access your old post. With Dean’s Permalinks Migration Plugin, you can safely change your permalink structure without breaking the old links to your website,and even doesn’t affect your search engine rankings!

By using this plugin, it using a technique called “301 Redirect”, also known as a Permanent Redirect. It tell the search engines (and browsers) that the page has permenantly moved, and that the old address should be replaced by the new one. When you do this, search engines will update their indexes quickly and you won’t lose your pagerank. You also continue to receive traffic as though nothing had changed.

Permalinks Migration Plugin installation guide:

1. Download Dean’s Permalinks Migration Plugin
2. Unzip and upload the file into your wp-content/plugins/ directory.
3. Activate it on your wordpress Admin Panel -> Plugin page.
4. Goto admin panel -> Options-> Permalinks Migration, set the old permanlink structure of your site. For example in my case is “/%year%/%monthnum%/%day%/%postname%/“
5. Goto admin panel -> Options -> Permalinks, put in the new permalink structure to what you want and click on Update Options. For me, I’ve choose “/%postname%/” (more…)

What’s happening on AhTim.com ?

Time flies when you are busy! Yes, time really flies and now it’s time for me to reveal my 2nd monthly SEO report here. I thought I was just blog for a month here, but it’s NOT true. Because I’ve posted my 1st monthly SEO report some time on 13 October, so now I am so exciting to compare the improvement and hard work that I’ve done for the pass 1 month!

My Monthly SEO report

1. Alexa

If you still remember, my alexa ranking in 1st monthly SEO report was 820,734 and now cllimbed up to 342,972. What a huge leap! This means AhTim.com has jump ahead 477,762 websites or blogs within the last 1 month. It was 58% improvement on Alexa ranking this month I’m quite satisfied with the progress. My next target would be hitting rank 200,000 on my next month SEO report.

As for the rank within my country Malaysia, it’s harder to compete compare to overall Alexa ranking (Maybe Malaysia too many serious bloggers?)

But anyhow, my ranking within Malaysia has been increased from 5,555 to 4,632! It’s about 16% improvement, jump ahead 923 blogs within the last month.
