All internet service need our password to login as authorized person. Sometime we just too lazy to think of strong password and put in simple, easy to hack password.

Can you imagine a full time blogger’s Google Adsense account’s password has been guessed by someone? Or your blog’s account password changed by someone else? So strong password is the factor to secure
your blog, website and money!

5 Rules to Stronger Password

You can set a better and stronger password with 5 simple rules. I believe if you follow the rules below, hacker might take hundred or thousand years to break your password. :)

1. Do not use password related to your personal info

Most of the people like to use password that easy to remember such as their birthday date, house location, name, age, etc. All these personal info can be guess by hacker easily by looking at your profile from Internet service.

2. Do not use enhanced password related to yourself

Some more advance user will “enhanced” their password get from personal info. For example, one may enhance their name from “George” to “G3orge” as their password. Some brute force attack can guess these enhanced password by using the special algorithm. So, do not think this is secured.

3. Do not use password that exist in dictionary

The most common password cracking technique is use the words listed in dictionary. The most silly password is use “password” as their password! :)

Spy back and Reveal Spammer !

Recently I have discovered some spammers target on my blog contents. As usual, when I check my wordpress dashboard for latest activity, there are many incoming links. I want to know who link to me and what they are talking about. As I noticed, there are few weird incoming links because they links almost every of my recent blog posts. Among these links, the most are from one source.

The spammers use spam engine to crawl my excerpt as their blog content, some even claimed as their own content by putting their name inside. After do some research on these spammers, I decide to reveal one of the spammer! Hopefully with these spy back information on the spammer, he learn to be more behave on his spam techniques.

Do you believe all these incoming links below come in from just one source, dulq.com. I do not border if he just link to my blog, but he copy my content excerpt and trackback to my blog post. I’ve delete his trackback from my blog post.

I have use certain techniques to spy and reveal the spammer’s information. With the help of Whois service, I have found the registrant of the domain. As you can see from the screenshot below, I reveal his name, house address, email address and even his phone number. (more…)

3 Ways to Secure Your Blogs

Do you know how secure is your blog hosting server? A blog’s security is one of the most concern topic by most probloggers. Especially full time bloggers, we know what will happen if their blog has been hacked by someone. Daily earnings and years of hard works might lost within minutes.

Blog hosting server is out of our control if we do not have dedicated server. But we still can do something to put our blog to more secure stage. There are some must do to secure your blog from hacker. Do it now to give you peace in mind.

3 Ways to Secure Your Blog

1. Use strong password.

Don’t ever use simple weak password like 123asd, password, or 123456. Use the Password Checker to check your password strength. The higher strength you have, more secure you are. If possible, change the admin to your own username.

2. Restrict Unnessacery Folders Access

As wordpress user, only share default files and folders as permission 644 (allow others to read only). If it is a script that need execute permission, only allow 755 (allow others to read and execute). Don’t ever set to 777 if you not sure what the folder for (allow others to read, write and execute). You can use FTP client such as Filezilla to check files ad folders permission with few clicks without hassle.
