3 ways to Increase Page Rank

What is Page Rank? PageRank is a numeric value (1 to 10) that represents how important a page is on the web. It is Google’s way of deciding a page’s importance.Normally we call PageRank as “PR”.
Since PR refer to a page’s importance, higher PR page will show in higher position in search results. Hence it is important to build a high PR page if you are keen to increase traffics. People will then easier to reach your blog.
How Page Rank Works?
Before talk about the ways to increase PR, we must understand the way of how PR works. Google never reveal its current Page Rank formula calculation. But from its original formula, we know the basic concept behind it.
PR(A) = (1-d) + d(PR(t1)/C(t1) + … + PR(tn)/C(tn))
Formula above is the original Page Rank algorithm that reveal by Larry Page and Sergey Brin (Google Founders) in their publications. Not understand what the algorithm means? Don’t worry, I will explain in simple way.
In simple way, the algorithm above can be translate to
PageRank = 0.15 + 0.85 * (a “share” of the PageRank of every page that links to it)
But what does the “share” means? The “Share” means the linking page’s PageRank divided by the number of outbound links on the page. Although we do not know the exact PR algorithm, but we can conclude that a link from another site increases our site’s PageRank. Especially one way link.
3 Ways to Increase Page Rank
There are at least 3 ways that I think is effective to increase PR. I myself got PR3 within 4 months blogging. I got my first PR2 after blogging for 1 month plus on 29 October 2007. Then increase to PR3 on 14 January 2008.
The 3 ways to increase PR are:
- Guest Blogging - Guest blogging on high PR blog and obtain one way link back to your blog. Why I got my PR in short period? One of the reason is I guest blog in LiewCF.com. Always ask permission to include a link back to yourself when you guest blogging.
- Good Article - Write good content articles make you different from others. Continuously others will blog about your article with link to you.
- Online Contest - An effective technique that used by many bloggers. Launch a contest with interesting prize with rules. Ask participants to blog about your contest with a link to you online contest page.
Some blogger might think of link exchange. I do not recommend this method for long term, if you want to be friend with Google!

@Fahmishah: Suggest you to work harder on content. Better content will get more link back, this definitely help on your PR.

Totally agree with these 3 techniques to get some google juice to your blog, and I’ve used them all.
I think exchanging with other sites really isn’t the way to go, as the pagerank you get from their site will quickly be returned and isn’t really what google wants anyhow. Having one way quality (keyword rich) links to your blog is the way to go.

Content I think is above all that drives traffic to your site. And those traffic will increase you PR . Eg. People linking your good articles. Etc. SEO is important too.. But content is paramount

Like this..i have tried several methods though my traffic is still heartbreaking..but am not worried when my blog is only a month old.I am now painfully trying your tip on writing great articles using simple language……

@Tim: Write to the blog author that you want to guest blog. Of course, quality content is important to let blogger accept your guest post.

Nice and useful information. I think one of the best way to get one way back links is to write good content, submit it to high PR article directory. Some directories puts good articles on their main page, which means good back link for the submitter.
